Job Summary

May Mobility is entering an exciting phase of growth and our team is expanding quickly. We are looking for a Systems Administrator/IT Specialist to manage and support technology at May headquarters and remote operations sites. This role will be part of our employee-facing People Operations team and will be responsible for working with our engineering and operations teams to develop and execute May Mobility’s IT and security initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform sysadmin and network admin duties for local and remote servers and sites including:
    • Administer local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) connections across multiple sites
    • Administer local and remote cloud servers
    • Assess company's network and systems needs, propose and implement upgrades and new features
    • Develop a budget and track expenses for IT
  • Propose and enforce company-wide IT policies
    • Propose and execute security policies for office and field operations
    • Ensure robust data management, including both day-to-day use and disaster recovery contingencies
    • Work with management and engineers to identify tools and best practices for increased efficiency, scalability, security, and reliability across the IT spectrum
  • Provide technical support for headquarters and operations staff, including Linux and Mac helpdesk support
  • Purchase, track and maintain IT equipment for office and field use, including laptops, cell phones, servers, printers, and IoT devices

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related degree, or equivalent related work experience
  • At least 1 year of experience as a sysadmin or IT specialist for a small to medium company or team
  • Expert knowledge with Linux and the Linux command line
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting Mac OS
  • Customer service oriented attitude
  • Ability to communicate effectively with users at all skill levels and across all parts of the business
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Comfort writing bash and Python scripts for device setup and maintenance
  • Ability to travel (up to 20% of the time)

Desirable Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a sysadmin or IT specialist for a small to medium company or team
  • Startup experience
  • Experience managing AWS resources, including S3, EC2, Route53, Lambda or other similar services (Azure, Google Cloud Compute, Digital Ocean)
  • C development experience
  • Website maintenance experience
